Kindergarten
During Kindergarten, children begin to think more abstractly and begin to process information without the need of concrete materials. Therefore, materials are carefully selected to support comprehension and the development of skills rather than just mechanical learning. New concepts are discussed in small groups and are applied in relevant activities. Since children of more than one group share subject areas, the purpose, placement and maintenance of materials are always discussed. Care of the classroom environment as well as care and concern for one another is stressed at all times. In addition to academic growth, we continue to value the emotional growth of each child. We incorporate a variety of activities and discussions that address issues such as solving problems, expressing feelings, making compromises and working cooperatively; this aspect of our program is evident throughout our school day.We completely prepare our children for magnet school and beyond and are acclimated to procedures that schools use.Our school does our best to keep our children one or two steps ahead.
